Binance’s former CEO CZ is positive on a future where AI and crypto will merge in the future to complement each other
Binance’s co-founder, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), says the currency for Artificial Intelligence (AI) is crypto. The former Binance CEO also used his platform to celebrate the release of Silk Road’s founder, Ross Ulbricht, from prison.Â
Changpeng Reveals His Plans
According to CZ, many AI crypto projects are currently on the BNB Chain. Based on CZ’s briefing on AI, a follower asked which of the projects is CZ’s favorite. He, however, refused to pinpoint any.Â
In addition, when asked what his AI preference is, he mentioned that efficiency wins over emotions in Artificial Intelligence transactions.Â

For CZ, AI may benefit from lower costs, faster confirmation, and is decentralized. He thinks that in the future, AI and crypto will blend.Â
In a push to actualize this vision, Binance Labs recently rebranded into YZi Labs, extending its activities into AI and biotech. Under the rebrand, CZ will start mentoring a series of startups. CZ was listed as an adviser at YZi Labs. By implication, CZ now has a subtle connection with Binance.Â
Under his leadership at Binance, a couple of federal violations were flagged. For example, he once pleaded guilty to fraud and money laundering charges leveled against him in the US. He served a 4-month jail term for this offense. Nonetheless, reports say he still retains about a 90% stake in Binance.Â
CZ Celebrates Ross Ulbricht’s ReleaseÂ
This week, President Donald Trump pardoned Ross William Ulbricht to fulfill his campaign promises.Â
Like CZ, Ulbricht was arrested for creating and running the operations of the Silk Road marketplace. His platform was also accused of being used for suspicious and illegal activities. It is the first modern darknet and online black market with a focus on crypto. He operated the firm from 2011 till 2013, when he was arrested.Â
All transactions for illicit activities were paid for in Bitcoin. However, Ulbricht’s unconditional release brings joy to the crypto space after his 11 years of imprisonment. Congratulating Ulbricht on his release, CZ hoped that his legal case in the US would also be resolved.
