The prominent cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike recently caused a temporary halt to business globally, highlighting the role of alternatives like Shiba Inu. A defect in a single content update for the Microsoft Windows operating system caused the tragic incident. Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama leveraged this global issue to highlight how the memecoin ecosystem might serve as the last line of defense.
The CrowdStrike Chaos
This major IT outage left the whole world in distress mode. Initially, there was panic that Microsoft’s system had been hacked, a typical security breach in the digital space. However, it turned out to be a defect from CrowdStrike. The problem originated from a bug in the newest version of CrowdStrike Falcon EDR. This caused numerous Windows users to encounter blue screen errors. This issue disrupted critical businesses like emergency services, aviation operations, stock exchanges, the security firm itself and several other sectors.
The firm’s CEO, George Kurtz penned an apologetic message on X. He reiterated that the outage was not caused by a cyberattack. He emphasized that the bug has been identified and fixed. Reassuringly, he maintained that the firm’s customers were fully protected.Â

Notably, crypto and Web3.0 firms have largely stayed unaffected by the outage. Two crypto clients of CrowdStrike Polygon Labs and Bybit attested to not being affected by the software’s failure. In a X post, Polygon’s Chief Security Information Officer (CISO) Mudit Gupta, chastised the security firm. He said the firm did not take the necessary security measures before releasing the software update.
In contrast to this, TradFi have been sore from the incident as they many were affected.Â
The Advocacy For Shiba Inu
The crypto community has seen this failure as an awakening call for sectors and industries that still remain dependent on Web2. In a X post, Shytoshi Kusama stressed the danger and vulnerabilities that can stem from this outage. He emphasized that this occurrence indicates a need to transition to decentralized systems.Â
Reflecting on Shiba Inu’s innovative strides, Kusama highlighted that the Shiba Inu ecosystem has achieved its impressive feats by leveraging Web3 technologies. This has inherently offered improved security, resilience against such system breakdown, he added. Furthermore, he underlined the importance of shifting from centralized Web2 systems to a stronger and more inclusive Web3 structure.Â
